EMDR Intensives

Are You A Strong Candidate For An EMDR Intensive?

Are you looking for lasting, effective relief from a triggering memory, sensation, or experience?

Have you tried other forms of therapy in the past only to feel unsuccessful or retraumatized by the discussion of your experience?

Could you benefit from time-limited yet intensive therapy that can quickly and sustainably heal your trauma on a deep level?

Whether you’re looking to scale down the time spent in treatment or ready to confront your trauma once and for all, an EMDR intensive may be an ideal option. Because intensive sessions reduce the overall time spent in therapy, they are an effective and generally more affordable way to explore and process trauma on a deep level.

In a focused, concentrated EMDR intensive, you are able to arrive at healing resolution more quickly and neutralize triggering memories in a shorter period of time. Through the intensive treatments at EMDR Therapy Solutions, deep and immediate transformation can take place.

How Can An EMDR Intensive Help You?

If you’re unfamiliar with EMDR, we invite you to learn more on our EMDR Therapy page

In sum, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective form of therapy that targets the core memories and experiences resulting in anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance abuse, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and other mental health struggles. Common traumatic experiences that have been effectively processed using EMDR include:

  • Instances of childhood sexual, mental, and physical abuse

  • Domestic violence and any form of assault

  • A sudden loss or death

  • Accidents

  • Natural disasters

  • Military combat

  • Work-related secondary trauma (i.e., emergency response)

  • Bullying

These are only some examples of core traumas, and as therapists, we acknowledge that any unexpected situation that causes feelings of fear or imminent danger has the potential to traumatize.

We’ve seen firsthand the healing quality of EMDR and understand its effectiveness as a trauma-informed method. And though we offer EMDR in typical 45-minute sessions, we recognize that intensives give our clients an additional, concentrated opportunity to process painful experiences. Instead of stopping and starting in weekly sessions, EMDR intensives last multiple hours or over the course of a few days—offering more time and flexibility to resolve root causes.

Meet Kelly Chisholm, Our Practice Founder And EMDR Intensive Specialist

I am a certified EMDR therapist, coach and healer who has years of experience working with survivors of all kinds of trauma—from childhood abuse to relational trauma to single-incident situations. When I discovered the healing effect that EMDR has on those struggling with the aftereffects of post-traumatic stress and anxiety, I worked to become a certified practitioner, consultant and trainer through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).

While there is no magical, all-encompassing treatment, EMDR comes pretty close. The amount of healing, resolution, and self-awareness that my clients have accomplished using this modality has affirmed my career as a therapist, and I am honored to walk the healing journey with each one of them.

Our Approach To EMDR Intensives

Intensives are designed to meet your specific treatment goals and timing needs. However, I typically offer EMDR intensives for three to four hours at a time or over the span of three to four days if necessary. As a licensed EMDR therapist in New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona, I am able to offer intensive sessions both virtually and in person.

In these sessions, you’re likely to experience a genuine transformation in regard to how you think about and relate to your trauma. You can resolve painful memories in real-time, enjoying relief from the physical, mental, and emotional symptoms holding you back. And because I draw from body-based and grounding emotional techniques to help you manage distress in the moment, EMDR intensives provide you with both lasting healing and lifelong skills for coping.

Your trauma may have caused you to feel stuck in a cycle of pain and anxiety, but relief is closer than you might think. An EMDR intensive can meaningfully change the relationship you have with your trauma and provide quick, effective healing you didn’t know was possible. I’ve seen so many clients heal their pain on a deep level in EMDR intensives—and I am confident these sessions can do the same for you too.
